Q1 . Define percentage. When a number is expressed as a fraction of 100 i.e, per 100 it is called percentage . The word percentage  is derived from the Latin word per centum mean out of hundred. It's symbol is % .For example , 72% ( read as  seventy two percent)  =72/100,50%,50/100,100%=100/100.      Activity No 1: A .Express the following percentages, as fraction in the lowest from .    (I) 72%.   (II) 92%.  (III) 15%.  (IV) 2 1/2%              I) 72 %.                Solution : 72%= 72×1/100=72/100=36/50=18/25                              Ii) 92%              solution ; 92%= 92×1/100=92/100=46/50=23/25.                             III) 15%.        Solution ; 15%=15×1/100=15/100=3/100.                               IV)2  1/2%;.          Solution ;.   2 1/2%=5/2×1/2×1/20=1/40.                                         b.   Express the following fractions as percentages.       I) 3/4.    II)2/3.  III)1/4.   IV) 1/2.       V) 3/8                                                             I) 3/4 ;.       3/4 × 100/100= 3/1 ×25/100= 75×1/100=75/100= 75%.           II)    2/3:.  Solution 2/3=2/3×100/100=200/3×1/100=66 2/3%.                     III) 1/4     solution 1/4 =1/4×100/100=25×1/100=25/100=25%.                  IV) 1/2    solution 1/2 =1/2 ×100/100=50×1/100=50%.                   V) 3/8.     Solution 3/8 =3/8×100/100=3/2×25/100=75/2×1/100=371/2%.

  Transfer of Heat:.   If you have experience the campfire while camping, you have noticed that the heat is transferred from the campfire to you and you feel warm glow on your face. If an iron utensil is placed on the fire, it becomes hot. Even someone far away of about 20 feet,also feel the warmth of the fire. In each of these cases the transfer of heat from fire to the iron utensil ,to your face and the person 20 feet away has occurred.But the principle method of heat transfer involved in each was different .
